Youth Monitoring
Over 20% of the Estonian population – which is more than 273,000 people – are young people between the ages of 7 and 26. In order to obtain a comprehensive overview of the lives of...
Youth monitoring means that existing data about young people and the services provided to them are monitored and assembled and missing data is collected. The objective of this monitoring is to come to knowledge-based decisions in youth policy. To take care of and nurture our young people we must be aware of:
- what young people need;
- what the situation of young people is like compared to other members of society; and
- what problems and challenges young people are facing.
Youth monitoring provides relevant and up-to-date information about areas related to the lives of young people. It helps us evaluate the situation of young people and youth work, take aspects related to young people into consideration when developing and improving policies and services for young people and assess the possible impact of policy changes.
Youth Monitoring activities are implemented by the Youth Monitoring team that consists of experts from the Ministry of Education and Research and the Education and Youth Board. Activities are implemented in partnership with Statistics Estonia, Tallinn University, University of Tartu, and Estonian Association of Youth Workers.
The activities are co-funded from the European Social Fund.
